For children attending small group sessions, I alternate between English and Maths each week. I also provide targeted preparation for entrance exams such as the 11+, although I do not tutor verbal or non-verbal reasoning. For home-educated students attending daytime classes, I can cover any subject you'd like, depending on your child’s needs and learning goals.
Small group sessions are available for students in Year 3 and above. Home-educated daytime students can be from either Key Stage 1 (KS1) or Key Stage 2 (KS2).
Group sessions are kept small, with a maximum of four children per session. This ensures that each child gets plenty of individual attention while benefiting from the dynamic of a group learning environment.
All tutoring sessions take place in my dedicated learning space at home in Carshalton Beeches. I hold an enhanced DBS and public liability insurance for added peace of mind. Feel free to come early on your first session to check out the learning space!
Yes, I do offer one-to-one tutoring sessions, both during the daytime for home-educated students and in half terms/summer holidays for children attending school. These sessions can be especially beneficial if you are considering the 11+ exam, as it is sat in September. These sessions are tailored to your child’s individual needs and can cover any subject area I offer.
For the 11+, I focus on building the necessary skills in English and Maths, which are core components of the exam. I tailor my sessions to your child’s current level, targeting areas of improvement to help them gain both confidence and competence. My approach avoids putting too much pressure on students, and I aim to create a relaxed learning environment while addressing key learning gaps. Please note, I do not cover verbal or non-verbal reasoning for the 11+. As the exam date approaches, I introduce mock exams and test familiarisation sessions to ensure they feel fully prepared!
I believe in making learning engaging, interactive, and tailored to each child’s individual needs. Whether in a small group or one-to-one, I focus on building confidence alongside academic skills. My teaching style is practical and often linked to the child’s interests, helping to keep the sessions both fun and effective. I aim to create a friendly, calm environment where children feel comfortable, making learning enjoyable and stress-free.
I regularly assess each child’s progress, both formally and informally, to ensure they are meeting their learning goals. After each session, I provide detailed feedback and keep parents informed of their child's achievements, challenges, and areas to focus on moving forward. Additionally, I conduct assessment sessions to track progress, using this information to tailor future sessions and fill any learning gaps effectively.
Yes, a trial lesson is definitely a possibility! After the initial home visit, we can schedule a paid trial lesson. If everything goes well, I can then book your child into the group with a permanent weekly spot. Please note that all sessions are to be paid for in advance.
To book a session or for more information, please feel free to contact me directly through the website, via email, or by phone. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have and discuss how I can best support your child’s learning journey.
